Methodology

How PlanWatch collects and checks its data

Every price and limit on this site comes from a source you can click. We record the date we read it, and we label anything we couldn't confirm.

What we track

  • 9 active AI coding tools and 35 plans, plus renamed or discontinued tools (Windsurf, Gemini CLI).
  • For each plan: monthly price, annual price per month where published, usage limits, reset windows (5-hour, daily, weekly, monthly), what happens past the limit, free tier and promos.
  • A dated changelog of price and limit changes. Changes older than about 90 days are kept as context.

Status labels

  • ✓ Verified: Read on the vendor's own pricing page, docs, or official announcement on the verified date.
  • Reported: From reputable reporting or a dated third-party tracker; not yet confirmed on the vendor's own page.
  • Unverified: Could not be confirmed. Shown so the gap is visible. Do not rely on it.

How we check

  • We read each vendor's official pricing page or docs and record the date (America/Toronto).
  • A monitoring script fetches every official pricing page, compares it with the last snapshot and writes a change report. A person reviews each report before anything on the site changes.
  • We never estimate a number a vendor doesn't publish. If a limit is "not published", we say so.

Prices

US list prices before tax, monthly billing unless marked. Taxes and regional pricing vary.

Independence and money

PlanWatch is independent and not affiliated with any vendor listed. To pay for itself, the site may carry one clearly labelled sponsor and, later, affiliate links. Both will be disclosed where they appear. Neither changes the data, the order of the table, or the picker's results.

Reuse

The data is available as JSON and CSV. When quoting a number, please cite PlanWatch and the date shown.
